We just learned what times our short film will be screened at the CRIFF:

There are two showings:
April 3rd, 6:30 p.m. Theater "B"
April 4th, 6:35 p.m. Theater "C"

Please visit http://www.crifm.org/attend.html for specific ticket prices.

The CRIFF has a wide variety of films this year by some excellent filmmakers that I know personally and are very talented. Please take this opportunity to see their films as well and show some support for local independent filmmaking. The CRIFF is a great time.

Our recently completed short film, The Vigilant One has been selected to screen at the 2009 Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival. Exact show times are pending, but the festival itself is scheduled for April 4th and 5th. Details can be found here. Please continue to check their site for more details as they become available.

The Vigilant One is a short 'Greek-esque' vignette about Joshua - an invisible godlike figure who is assigned to protect a girl named Marie from an evil force called the Dark Ones. After watching her for many years without the threat of attack, Joshua decides to ask his superior permission to become human. He soon learns that this is what the Dark Ones have been waiting for...

News

Ok so it's been a little while since we've updated people on what's happening with Brakelite Films, so I will try and fill you all in on as many things I am allowed to give out.

So, we wrapped the shooting of the Vigilant One almost exactly two months ago, since then, we have finished the telecine and editing process for that, but we are not yet ready to open the film up to public. We are in the process of entering the film into festivals around the nation, one of which the film has been nominated to be a finalist in the Take 1 Festival in Chicago.

As for upcoming productions I cannot give out too much information, but I can say that we are working in pre-production for an Action/Thriller that we plan on shooting at the end of the summer of 2009. We are all very excited to start on this feature film and believe that it has the potential to go far. So start getting your popcorn ready cause this year's feature film is going to be one wild ride!!

Lighting setup for heaven scene. The "white" backround was actually tan so I had to overexpose the backround by 4 stops, but I think it should turn out well.
A butterfly scrim I made for 10 bucks that I was very pleased with how well it worked.
